Club Communication – Implementation of Respect, Behaviour and Child Safety Policy.
To all of our valued members and supporters,
The Moe Football Netball Club has developed a policy to communicate the expected behavioural standards for all involved at the club. These standards are in line with societal expectations and have been derived from overarching football and netball governing policies.
This information is being distributed to all of our members and supporters to communicate the newly developed club policy which has been implemented with the intent that our standards for respect, appropriate behaviour and looking after our young people are known and understood by all who represent our great club.
Our club has the largest and most passionate supporter base in the Gippsland League as evidenced by the number of clubs requesting the Moe Football Netball Club to be part of their marquee games during the development of the 2024 fixture. Our “Can Bar“ is rightfully renowned throughout the league and more broadly in the community, and is part of the attraction for many people who attend our games at Ted Summerton Reserve. Much work has been done in the past to build our culture and supporter base and we want to continue to build on this and attract more people from the broader Moe community to our club,
There were some instances during last years’ finals series involving unacceptable behaviour that were communicated by the league to all clubs, and an independent investigation was undertaken post the 2023 season related to reported behaviours involving club members and players at a private function. While these instances were not necessarily attributable to all of our club members and supporters, there is potential for these instances to have a negative impact on our club and just as importantly, the people involved.
The Moe Football Netball Club strives to be a leading organisation within our local community and the Gippsland League and as such, has a responsibility to provide a respectful and safe environment for all of our players, members and supporters. We are implementing this policy to solidify our commitment to continuous improvement of our processes for promoting appropriate and respectful interactions for all involved with the club.
The future of our club is strong with large numbers of junior footballers and netballers coming from far and wide to be part of our junior programs. We must look after these young people and provide them not only opportunities on the field and court, but also a safe and respectful environment that educates and nurtures their development.
Our playing groups, coaches and people assisting our teams will be educated in the requirements of this policy prior to the commencement of the 2024 season.
I thank-you all in advance for taking the time to read and understand this policy and I’m happy to discuss further should anyone have feedback related to the content.
Go Lions!
Kind regards,

Mat Howlett
MFNC President
