Durkin Milestone

19 Apr by Harri Sim

Liam Durkin will play his 150th game tomorrow.

The left footer has been a mainstay in the reserves over the last decade.

So far he has played in three finals series and kicked a total of 139 goals, with a personal best of nine.

Notable club achievements include the Ian Jennings Trophy in 2017.

The 29-year-old made his debut in 2013, starting out as a small forward before moving up to the wing. Wearing the number 24 jumper, he has missed just one game since debuting.

Durks has maintained the games tally of all Moe senior/reserves players for almost a decade, and is now into his ninth season writing club notes for the Record. His annual Simpsons related notes have arguably become his trademark, as have his headbands and range of hair colours.

Club notes go hand-in-hand given his work as a journalist, and he has used his media skills in other areas, including establishing a podcast interviewing various Moe Football-Netball Club identities.

Of the 139 goals, his most memorable was a four bounce running effort from halfback at Ted Summerton Reserve in 2019. Video of the goal went viral, attracting 20,000 views online.
