Indigenous Round – Saturday 19 July Ted Summerton Reserve Moe v Leongatha

17 Jul by Lis Keilty

Join us as we celebrate Country, Culture and Contribution in this Gippsland League Indigenous Round feature match.
We’re incredibly proud to be wearing a custom design created especially for this round by the talented Lionel Rose Jr.
Our footballers and netballers will step out in this incredible design, footballers in Indigenous jumpers and netballers in Indigenous bibs, each piece carrying deep meaning and connection to our local area.
We are truly lucky to have Lionel Rose Jr. share his culture and creativity with our club. It is an honour to wear his work.
Design Story
Artist: Lionel Rose
Clan: Kurnai/Gunditjmara
“The name Moe derives from the Kurnai word meaning ‘Swamp Land.’
In the design I have added Gippsland wetland native animals such as the Platypus, Long Neck Turtle, Black Swan and Ducks designed in traditional Indigenous line work.
The background lines represent tracks throughout the wetlands and waterways.
The V design as a River representing rivers and wetlands throughout Latrobe Valley.
The artwork design stems from the Moe FC jerseys and I tried to keep it natural to the jersey patterns and work around that.”

MFNC wishes to acknowledge the contribution to this event by the Latrobe City and the Gippsland League.
