Update on TSR Project Works and Return to PlayTo all involved with the Moe Football Netball Club.
This communication is being circulated to advise of the latest information related to the Ted Summerton Reserve (TSR) upgrades and Moe Football Netball Club returning to play and train at the venue.
For those that have been conducting regular inspections of the venue, you will have identified that the oval is looking magnificent, light towers have been erected, the new scoreboard is in place, 2x new grandstand frames have been erected, a new netball pavilion has been constructed and additional rooms have been added to the upstairs area of the main pavilion.
Internally, the changerooms in the main pavilion have been freshened-up and the office and stage areas upstairs have been removed which has opened-up this area. A couple of windows upstairs will also be modified to open for better atmosphere on game days.
There are still a lot of civil works occurring and the builder and sub-contractors are busily working to keep on schedule to have sufficient works completed to allow us to reoccupy the facility as soon as possible.
All this being said, there is still much to do. In order to service the upgraded lights, building infrastructure and scoreboard, a new site mains switchboard and distribution boards for TSR’s buildings are required to be delivered, installed, connected, metered and commissioned prior to the consideration of an Occupancy Permit by the Building Surveyor. Civil works including reshaping, concreting and completion of grandstand areas is ongoing. We have been working with LCC as the Project Managers as well as continually communicating with the primary contractor Langden Constructions to ascertain definitive timelines for completion of these activities so that our club can return to the venue for training and to host games.
Whilst we are still working towards a definitive date, it is now clear that the original scheduled return at the end of May is not feasible and while it has been indicated that works will be sufficiently completed to allow a return in early June, we are planning alternative arrangements for our home game scheduled for the Kings Birthday Long Weekend.
Initial contact has been made with Morwell Football Netball Cub and we are working with Morwell and Latrobe City Council to arrange for our Round 7 Home Game to be held at Morwell Recreation Reserve. Should this not be achievable, our next options are Newborough and Morwell East.
In relation to the Round 8 fixture, without having certainty that TSR will be available in time to allow for us to effectively run a home game at the venue, we are assessing options in consultation with Warragul Football Netball Club and Churchill Football Netball Club to ascertain the best arrangements for this fixture.
All efforts are being made to ensure that we can return to TSR and get back to training and playing at home as soon as possible to provide some stability for our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters bearing in mind that while we are in constant communication with people involved in the upgrade works, we have little influence over the timing of completion of works. While we would all like to be back “Home” and acknowledge the inconvenience caused, we require certainty that we can run our operations safely and with limited impediments and as such, cannot commit to a firm return date until this certainty is achievable.
Based on the current project program of works, we realistically foresee that our first home game back at TSR will be the Round 10 fixture against Leongatha, or in the event of unforeseen delays, the Round 12 fixture against Traralgon. This advice is noting that there will be areas of the facility such as the undercover terraces that will still be under construction at this time.
Should there be any changes to this timeline and as work completion dates and playing venues are confirmed, these will be communicated at our earliest convenience.
